MYCELIUM

Maps capabilities

In pilot

MYCELIUM is the machine-readable map of a print shop's capabilities, so software can ask “can we produce this piece, and by which route?” and get a true answer instead of a guess.

What it does

Most shops hold this knowledge in two or three people's heads. MYCELIUM writes it down in the shared PressForge capability schema: each device, its formats and stocks, each finishing process and what it accepts, each embellishment and its tolerances.

POLARIS plans against it, FØUNDRY prices against it, and the rate-card engine on the roadmap costs against it. When a press is retired the map changes once and every flagship knows.

The pilot shop's map was the first, grounded in its live MIS locations and categories, and it is the template for shop number two.
